Nausea & Vomiting

I glow, not because I am pregnant, but because likely as not I just threw up. Since I didn't have morning sickness, but rather the rest of the day nausea, Justin called it "Prime Time Sickness." So here is what helps and what doesn't with nausea, vomiting and indigestion.

Yups:
Sea bands. Look these are no miracle, but they did take the edge off. So I'm guessing a 10% reduction there.

Drugs. Justin said something lovely like "You are on more drugs now than when you weren't pregnant" I ended up on 2 drugs Nexium and Reglan to control the gastric problems. Nexium cut it by 50% and Regland (my add on) decreased it by another 30-40% Wish I could be an all natural hippie here, but sadly my life is improved by chemicals.

Distraction. Vomiting happens and it will no matter how distracted you are. However I did notice that from time to time I could forget about my indigestion, if only for awhile when I am super busy.

Ginger chews. There is enough ginger to be effective and I feel like the are spicy babies so that helps. However the sensation lasts only as long as the chew, which just isn't long enough.

Don't talk about it. I found that the "V" word became a prompting for my tummy. Mums the word.

Nopes:
Preggie pops. They are in the nope category b/c they are too expensive for what they are, hard candy. Hard candy, in particular sour hard candy helped me get over some very bad indigestion episodes which I really do think increase the vomiting. Get candy.

Ginger ale. There isn't enough actual ginger in these, people, to be effective.

Smelling lemon or ginger. While that is nice and all, it had a big zero effect on my nausea.

So that is what worked for ME during MY pregnancy, but sadly it probably won't for you. This is another thing I've learned, everybody's advice works for them ONLY for sure. As you've noticed from the above, that doesn't stop anyone from telling you their thoughts on the issue when you're pregnant.
